Food Drive

The Tippah County Hospital is having a Food Drive now through March 6th in the Tippah County Hospital Lobby. All proceeds go to the Tippah County Good Samaritan Center. Help provide healthy meals to more families for a "Happy Healthier Tippah!" Your dollar goes farther at the Food Bank! Blue Mountain College Athletic Banquet

Blue Mountain College will have its Athletic Banquet Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Blue Mountain College Ray Dining Hall. The guest speaker is Herbert Davis, the 2019 State Champion Head Football Coach at Madison Ridgeland Academy. A silent auction will also be conducted. Cost of the dinner will be $25.00 per ticket. The Wall that Heals

The Wall That Heals Coming to Ashland, MS

The Wall that Heals a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and Mobile Education Center will be coming to Ashland, Mississippi March 12 - 15, 2020. It is expected to arrive in Ashland at the Benton County Fairgrounds on March 10 by motorcycle escort from the American Legion Riders. There will be a Memorial Ceremony at the Benton County Fairgrounds, 17136 Highway 5 in Ashland on March 14th at 10 a.m. School groups and all Veterans are welcome. There will be a Mobile Education Center open with displays of Hometown Heroes, a display of items representative of the items left at The Wall in Washington, D. C. in remembrance of those on the The Wall, a map of Vietnam, "In Memory Honor Roll" as well as other items. It is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. To set up a school tour call 662-224-4881. For General information call 901-359-4360.

Head Start Registration

Let's Leap into another year!  


Prather Head Start is currently registering children for the upcoming school year 2020 to 2021. Registration is open for children between the ages of 3 and 4, if their birthday is before September 1st. You need to bring proof of income for 2019, shot record, and birth certificate and insurance or Medicaid card. They are located in the Tippah County Industrial Park (White Oak Community) in Ripley. Sharon Leslie Morgan to Speak

The Tippah County Historical and Genealogical Society invites you to hear Sharon Leslie Morgan speak on February 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm at the Ripley Public Library on "Discovering Your Ancestry". Sharon Morgan is the founder of Our Black Ancestry. She is a genealogist, writer and multicultural marketing expert who has served as a consultant to the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society and is a founding member of Afrigeneas. She is the co-author of "Gather at the Table: The Healing Journey of a Daughter of Slavery and a Son of the Slave Trade" (Beacon Press, 2012).  She is also a contributor to "Slavery's Descendants: Shared Legacies of Race & Reconciliation" (Rutgers University Press, 2019), and "The Little Book of Racial Healing: coming to the Table for Truth-Telling, Liberation, and Transformation" (Good Books, 2019).
